Hello!

I’m Sian GILBERT, and I write thriller novels.

My debut novel, SHE STARTED IT, was a Book of the Month Main Pick and an Amazon Editors’ Pick for June 2023, and has been optioned for film. My second novel, I DID WARN HER, received a starred review from Booklist for June 2025. Both feature groups of women in isolated, glamorous settings where everything goes spectacularly wrong, resulting in murder and mayhem.

My third book, THE FIVE OF US, has just released, and I can’t wait for you to read it. Think 56 Days meets Pretty Little Liars with a dark academia vibe!

And for the fourth thriller…watch this space! Until then, you can find out a little bit more about me as a person below.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to be an author. I used to ask for notebooks and pens as birthday and Christmas presents, and they’d be filled with scribbles and drawings of my plot and characters. (One of my absolute favourite authors as a child was Jacqueline Wilson, so my illustrations always took the style of Nick Sharratt and my plots were very much inspired by hers!). I still have so many of my old notebooks (and A4 pieces of paper folded in half to create a “real” book) and even now I love to go through them and feel so happy I’ve somehow achieved this dream.

I also wanted to be a teacher, and was lucky enough to teach for almost five years before I left to pursue writing. I was selected to be a mentee in the last year of Pitch Wars, with the incredible E.A. Aymar as my mentor, and he and the amazing fellow mentees I met during that time made me finally believe in myself that writing could actually be a genuine possibility for me as a career. If you are a hopeful writer, find a writing community: they are the best.

In terms of hobbies, I’m a total history buff. My bookshelves probably have more history books than anything else! I’m also a huge cat person, and will definitely stop in the street if I see one!
